“Thou Shalt Not Postpone Joy.” - unknown

Hello and welcome! I’m Liza: “Art Explorer.”

I was born in the southern gothic town of Mobile, Alabama, and raised in St. Simons Island, Georgia - part of the Golden Isles. Maybe like YOU, I considered myself an artist at an early age. After studying printmaking and obtaining a BFA from Auburn University in 2001, I put down creating for a long season - almost ten years. My husband and I spent those years renovating historic houses and starting a family in Birmingham, AL. A friend’s urging and a personal awakening allowed my practice of art to reemerge. Today, my artwork is reflective of the beauty and wonder surrounding my home and studio in Florida. My hope is that my art invites you to both joy and contemplation.

I’m in my art studio most days creating and "playing." I love to explore new art mediums, and remain open-minded and curious. I also enjoy teaching and journeying with others through their creative endeavors. I want to pass on the encouragement and hope I received from that artist friend years ago to “keep creating.” Hosting kids’ & women’s art workshops both in the studio and online allow me to share my love of making. In 2019, I had the honor of illustrating a children’s book: Seaside A to Z by Katie Porterfield.

Life with my husband and three kids is colorful and chaotic, and everything I create embraces the imperfect. When I’m not in the studio or dreaming up a new way to share art, I love reading, thrifting, traveling, and connecting with others. I am a textbook Enneagram 4 with a 3 wing (ha). My home and art studio are located on the Choctawhatchee Bay, just north of Scenic Highway 30-A in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.

Thanks for exploring my site, and feel free to reach out anytime. Stay curious, my friends!
